Black Excellence Ceremony

The American Literacy Corporation (ALC) announces the ALC Black Excellence Breakfast and Awards Ceremony at the Salvation Army Banquet Hall, 506 South 29th Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Thursday, February 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The ALC will honor Tracy G of Sway in the Morning with “The American Literacy Corporation Black Excellence Award.” The ALC will also thank community partners and volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the ALC the past two years.

During this unprecedented time of the global pandemic, with your help, the ALC has created ways to continue to promote the importance of reading and writing to children through Reading 365, Leitura Live 365, and Leyendo En Vivo 365, You Write! Essay Contest, Summer Camp, discussion forums and more.

It’s time to recognize all the wonderful volunteers in the last two years. The ALC is so grateful for the countless hours contributed by volunteers. The breakfast is an opportunity to show our appreciation.

The breakfast will be hosted by abc27 News anchor James Crummel and Madi Stokes. The morning will consist of a breakfast, awards presentation, book sale and signing. The guest list for the dinner includes: authors, students, school and college staff, librarians, committee and board members, public officials, and other community people.

The ALC Black Excellence Breakfast and Awards Ceremony is a program of The ALC which is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Since 2000, the ALC has served the community by partnering with community-based organizations, and other institutions with programs targeting educational enhancement and development for elementary-aged students.
